Eddie is currently Executive Principal of two Academies in Ilkeston Derbyshire. He has been a Headteacher since 1995, but employed as an Executive Principal since 2011.
Previously, he has been Principal of a 14-19 Upper School of some 2100 students, and Principal of an inner-city comprehensive. There he oversaw the expansion of the school from 600 students to 1200 in a secondary reorganisation, as a result of another secondary school that had been in an Ofsted category for 3 years, being closed. The school subsequently received a glowing Ofsted report that described the school as ‘rapidly improving’, and praised its leadership and management and self-review processes.
At the Upper School, he made great strides towards personalised learning, using the 4 Deeps of personalisation as inspiration. He was also a key driver for the leadership in federations with other schools to provide outstanding provision. Ofsted praised many elements of the federation work, and also the collegiate focus on teaching and learning. The Upper School was nationally renowned for this work, as well as its own provision and progress.
Eddie has also been a National Challenge Adviser to 3 schools in Nottinghamshire, an Ofsted Inspector and involved in training for the current Ofsted framework. He has mentored other headteachers and is passionate about developing leadership and management (he has developed programmes and coaching for this), as well as developing the quality of teaching and learning, with personalised CPD for staff.
Safeguarding Eddie has an enhanced CRB disclosure.
