Profile:

Kirsty has held leadership posts in a wide range of schools in Leeds. She has a proven track record of transformational leadership and in her last post as Headteacher, brought about rapid change and improvement through an innovative approach to curriculum, teaching and learning, and learning-centred leadership. One year after taking up her post, Ofsted recognised the school as rapidly improving due to the quality of leadership and management. Kirsty is passionate about providing an engaging and relevant curriculum which meets the needs of 21st century learners and that staff and pupils have ownership of. With support from Focus Education, Kirsty and her staff introduced a new curriculum and approach to teaching and learning which resulted in an Ofsted subject inspection in 2011 which rated the curriculum as outstanding. Kirsty has developed and implemented a robust and rigorous assessment system which provides diagnostic information about children’s learning and well being. This informs teaching and is the basis for professional dialogue about how to best meet the needs of individuals. The result is an in-depth knowledge of every child, ensuring a personalised approach, which is communicated to parents and effective in raising achievement. Kirsty has recently joined a highly successful secondary school which is to become an all-through school. Her post as Primary Leader will give her the opportunity to establish a Primary Phase from inception.
