This publication has been written by a group of teachers in Bolton who wanted to find a consistent way of checking that not only have pupils got confidence with basic skills but that they can also use and apply the basics in different contexts.
The publication unpicks the mathematics non-negotiables (basic skills) for each year group and then matches with specific using and applying objectives (levelled). The user-friendly grids give teachers practical suggestions of ways to assess each basic skill.
