Monitoring and Evaluating SMSCD Monitoring and Evaluating SMSCD  Ref: SMSCD
Is SMSCD a strength in your school?
Could you prove this to an inspection team?
Are there areas for development?

The Spiritual, Moral, Social and Cultural Development (SMSCD) of pupils forms a core element of the Ofsted judgement on a school's overall effectiveness. However, it can be an area where schools do not monitor or evaluate the impact on pupils as effectively as they might. Presenting clear evidence to an inspection team can be vital in ensuring they have clear evidence when making crucial decisions.

The publication refers clearly to the 2012 Ofsted schedule and the accompanying guidance for inspectors. It will enable school leaders to systematically evaluate their provision, develop simple but effective monitoring and be in a position to show inspectors the impact of SMSC development on pupil outcomes.

Its content is applicable to primary, secondary and special schools.
