The content of the revised curriculum and how pupils’ progress is assessed in the classroom is becoming more familiar to increasing numbers of teachers.
The link between curriculum, classroom assessment and pedagogy continues to strengthen. With that in mind it is vital that we remember the main purpose of assessment: to help teachers plan precise next steps in pupils’ learning.
Building opportunities for regular moderation of assessments into their practice will ensure that teachers create accurate, rich qualitative pupil profiles of what they have achieved and clear indications of what they need to do next.
