We’re moving! | It’s time to say goodbye to Talking Point Conference Centre

Posted by: Category:

After almost 15 years at Talking Point Conference Centre, it’s time to bid farewell to the building and relocate to our new home. There have been countless memories made, not just for the staff at Focus Education, but the people who used the building for functions, weddings, and conferences.

Each success has become a huge part of Linda and Clive Davies’ lives as they saw their investment create memories for many people. The former church was bought by Linda and Clive back in 2007, and a complete refurbishment was implemented from this time until 2008 when they moved Focus Education into the three-story building. As we look back on the memories made, we’re sure you’d like to see how much went on behind closed doors from the refurbishment, to the events that were held here at Talking Point.

Talking Point time capsule

Before an area of the building was sealed, a time capsule was placed inside the building. In many years to come if and when the building is demolished or changed, someone will come across this time capsule so that they can look back on what the building became after the church.

Talking Point demolition and refurbishment phase

As you can imagine, the demolition of the interior and refurbishment would be a messy, timely but exciting job. Clive and Linda worked with architects, designers, surveyors, and builders to ensure that their dream of Talking Point would be exactly how they imagined it to be. Looking at these pictures…it may have been hard to imagine at this stage.

Talking Point completion phase

Eventually, the wait was worth it as Talking Point was completed in 2008. Keeping many of the original features such as the stained glass windows, beams, and architectural structures Talking Point was open for business. Focus Education relocated from their offices in Uppermill to the ground floor of Talking Point Conference Centre.

Our new home

Our new home will be based at Hollinwood Business Centre based in Oldham. While Talking Point Conference Centre has been a home for many years, it’s time we celebrate a new chapter in the business. Our moving day is 1st September, the start of the academic year 22-23. A new academic year means a new chapter for Focus Education.

Thank you for the memories Talking Point – “It’s been a minute”.
