This half-day course is aimed at core subject leaders in primary schools with responsibility for maths, English and science.
This course will set out to provide core subject leaders with a clear understanding of the latest Ofsted focus on the breadth and balance of the curriculum and how it meets the learners’ needs within the specific context of the school. Auditing the subject against Ofsted-based criteria will form a key part of the training.
Delegates will learn about the key aspects of new inspection handbook and how this relates to their subject leadership role, ready to take back into school.
Delegates will gain clarity and understanding about how they can put their work into context and ensure they can demonstrate curriculum intent linked to the schools’ context and values; implementation through planning and auditing their subject to meet the needs of pupils; and impact through efficient and effective monitoring.
With subject leaders and schools being able to demonstrate pupils’ progression in the acquisition of knowledge becoming a key focus on inspection, this course can be really useful for schools preparing for Ofsted, as well as helping develop the skills and knowledge of middle leaders.
The training will address the following:
What are the latest developments from Ofsted relating to English, maths and science?
How could subject leaders ensure a clear progression in knowledge as well as skills throughout the age range of the school?
How can subject leaders audit their subject effectively and provide evidence of the three ‘I’s?
