Course Description
This course is aimed at primary school and academy leaders, putting much emphasis on leaders’ role in developing a self-evaluation statement based on the Ofsted framework. The training will interrogate the new framework and response to the pandemic and help leaders to understand exactly how schools and academies will be judged. At the same time, it provides a really useful framework to help leaders write their self-evaluation statements. It is intended to be a practical event with leaders ending up with ‘best fit’ judgements against a series of key questions.

The training will focus on each the six areas identified within the framework:
  • Curriculum Intent
  • Curriculum Implementation
  • Curriculum Impact
  • Personal Development
  • Behaviour and Attitudes
  • Leadership and Management

In addition, it will consider your response to the pandemic and prepare you for the checks that are likely to be made. It looks at the main aspects identified for each of these six areas by Ofsted in its framework, plus your response to the pandemic e.g., sequencing and progression under curriculum intent and taking account of current research under curriculum implementation.

The course will help you make sense of how judgements are made by creating, for each of the identified aspects, key questions similar to the ones that inspectors will ask, effectively six to eight in each aspect. It will then provide you with descriptions that have been created linked to outstanding, good, required improvement or inadequate against all the key questions raised against each aspect. You will then be encouraged to find the ‘best fit’ for your school.
