Do you need some fresh ideas to make guided reading effective for all children?
This resource offers six (from Year 1 to Year 6) guided reading teaching sequences based on quality texts:
- The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe;
- The Owl who was afraid of the dark;
- Lady of Shalott;
- Cool;
- Krindlekrax;
- Dogger.
Each sequence is planned to include scaffolding as well as challenge for lower attaining children as well as challenge for able readers, demonstrating how one text may be used for all groups of children. It includes questions and aspects for discussion in a teacher-led session and follow-up and independent reading activities. All activities are linked to the 2014 reading objectives.
