Talking Points is a Physical Health, Mental Wellbeing and Relationships Curriculum for Primary Schools. It was designed by headteacher, Ruby Grey, taking full account of the DfE Guidance for their new Physical Health, Mental Wellbeing and Relationships Education for Primary Schools - the compulsory guidance document for schools.
It is sold in Year group bundles which includes teachers' notes, parental guide, parental letter, a full scheme of work and guidance for using the materials. Each year group has 18 units, in effect 18 fully planned lessons.
Talking Points has been set out in such a way that it promotes pupil talk and ensures that pupils consider a relevant statement within each separate unit. Each unit in each year group is linked to a quality text and uses children's picture books to start age appropriate discussions with children about the topics covered.
Children are encouraged to take part in discussions and activities which include other groups of pupils, grown-ups at home and parts of the community.
Talking Points also aims to encourage a love of reading and to increase vocabulary understanding.
