The aims of this publication are to:
• Provide a simple overview of monitoring and evaluation procedures
• Put monitoring and evaluation into a wider school improvement context
• Link monitoring and evaluation with the demands of inspection
• Share examples of systems which have proved effective in schools around England
In essence, asking you to question:
• How effective are our current arrangements for monitoring and evaluation?
• Can we demonstrate that our monitoring and evaluation impacts on pupil
progress?
Throughout this publication M+E is used instead of monitoring and evaluation.
