Les Duggan


Les is a highly experienced one-to-one executive coach, facilitator, strategist and leader. His motivation is to support schools in developing high performing cultures through strategic leadership and by enabling all staff and students to have those conversations, which make a positive difference every day in their schools.
Les spent 25 years working for Cadbury Ltd in senior leadership positions and set up a new Russian subsidiary in 1995 and has worked with a wide range of businesses, including HBOS, Barclays, Siemens, Intel, Europol, and Deloitte. In sport, he has worked to develop coaching and a strategic leadership in UK Athletics, British Rowing and British Archery and the British Equestrian Federation.

In 2006 Les set up the educational charity, 21st Century Legacy, with Olympian David Hemery and introduced the concept of leadership and coaching to Year 7 students. The programme has been further developed by Developing Potential as the Successful Lives programme www.succesfullives.co.uk, which now offers resilience and growth mindset training for pupils as part of the package. The most recent work has been to introduce coaching to year 5&6 in schools, which incorporate the recommendations of the Sutton Trust on peer mentoring and feedback.

Les has also co-authored a book on resilience called Building Resilience –The Seven Steps to Creating Highly Successful Lives and has also written a workbook for schools, ‘The 5 Steps to Building A School Wide Coaching Culture’. Both publications are available to buy from Focus.
In the last few year Les has been involved in whole school transformation through a systematic approach (V.E.G.A. alignment), which includes senior leadership teams, staff and students and has recently run Women in Leadership programmes for the Department of Education.
He delivers individual workshops on: Leadership, Coaching, Resilience, Growth mindset, Performance Management, Behaviour Management, Project Management and Implementation.
