Amanda Whithead

Amanda Whithead


Amanda is an associate consultant with Focus Education. She has over 30 years, experience within education. The majority of her recent work has included evaluating national and international curriculum models and supporting schools in developing English and maths as discrete subjects and across the curriculum. She also works with schools to support leadership and management and has a great deal of recent experience in school self evaluation and planning.

Prior to joining Focus, Amanda has worked as Director of Education, Primary Strategy Manager, School Adviser and Literacy Consultant at Local Authority Level. Amanda has developed and presented training in all aspects of English but particularly enjoys phonics, guided reading and writing. Amanda has worked with schools in challenging circumstances and has supported schools in moving from Special Measures and Requires Improvement to Good and Outstanding.

Amanda has also worked for Tribal Education where she trained as an Additional Ofsted inspector. During her time with Tribal she was involved with writing the education element of London Olympics bid and developed lesson plans to be used in school to support this area.
