Course DescriptionThis half-day course focuses on science across the primary age range, including EYFS, and is ideal for science subject leaders whether they are experienced in the role or newly appointed.
Since the demise of science SATs the subject has fallen in prominence in many schools; a fact highlighted in recent Ofsted research. The issues behind this will be discussed and possible solutions suggested. This course shares examples from schools where this has been addressed effectively and where science has been effectively led by subject leaders with the support of SLT. Ideas to promote science and ensure full curriculum coverage will also be shared.
The course will also discuss effective subject leader monitoring and evaluation and the implications for science, therefore ensuring that subject leaders are having a positive impact on teaching and pupil outcomes in the subject.
