Product DescriptionThis mini clip has been designed to provide Governors with key information about phonics and how it is taught in schools. It talks through and explains the key vocabulary (phoneme, grapheme, blending etc) and phonic phases. The training then explains the DfE's focus on systematic synthetic phonics teaching programmes.
The phonics screening check is also explained with the link to IDSR and the information available to inspectors. As well as this background information, ensuring governors are well-informed, the training ends with a range of questions Governors could use to provide challenge as well as support in this key aspect of the curriculum. This is a really useful training resource for Governors in general and also for any Governors with a specific curriculum, English, reading, EYFS or KS1 role.
