This three-day course will equip primary school leaders with the knowledge to enable you to prepare your school or academy for an inspection based on the current Education Inspection Framework.

The main changes will be discussed and latest messages from Ofsted will be incorporated into the training.

You will gain an understanding of the latest inspection process, which will enable you to plan for and manage an inspection within your setting.

Learn how an inspection team collects and evaluates the evidence to secure a judgement, looking in-depth at:

  • The quality of education with the focus on the curriculum intent, implementation and impact.

  • Behaviour and attitudes

  • Personal development

  • Leadership and management

  • EYFS

Over the three days you will gain an understanding of the following:

  • The focus of the new inspection framework and how the section 8 inspections compare to the section 5 inspections;

  • The ‘big picture’ of inspection and the importance of self-evaluation procedures;

  • The methods used by inspectors to triangulate evidence to reach judgements;

  • The information (including the curriculum and the three ‘I’s) that inspectors use to gain an understanding of the quality of education provided by the school.

  • The development of hypotheses and evidence trails and how this can support improvements in your own school or academy.

"Such an interesting and well-informed course. Throughout the Headteacher Inspection Training Course you gave the opportunity for both developing our knowledge and giving time for reflection, a combination which rarely seems to take place these days.
