Morning Course:

Course start time | 9:30am

Course end time | 12:00pm

This fully updated half-day course for senior leaders is based on research into middle leadership and how this can be best developed in an educational setting. With the increased emphasis on subject leadership in primary schools under the current inspection framework this is a really useful course to ensure senior leaders can plan training, guidance and support in ways that will enable subject leaders to be most effective. As well as exploring the research the course provides real life examples of how subject leadership has been developed in successful schools and ensures senior leaders can provide clarity and guidance, especially to subject leaders new to the role.

This course is relevant to Headteachers and Deputy Headteachers who have responsibility and oversight of subject leadership in a primary school.

The training will address the following:

  • What are the starting points for our subject leaders and what does the research show us?

  • What are the different aspects of the role and how can we provide clarity of expectation?

  • How have other schools planned for effective subject leadership?

  • How can subject leaders monitor and evaluate their subject with limited time for the role?

In response to feedback from delegates who have attended our online courses, the course content is delivered mainly through explanation and a didactic approach by the course leader. There are opportunities throughout the courses for delegates to ask questions, contribute ideas and share opinions. Course leaders will respond to any comments in ‘Chat’ thoughout the course. We realise that some delegates prefer a more activity-based approach to CPD, with tasks and directed Q&A sessions, but the large majority of our attendees prefer the former type of delivery. We are also aware that this normally better suits the training we are providing e.g. briefings about Ofsted.

Please be aware of this when considering booking. Thank you.
