This is a brand-new series from the Focus Education team, aimed at supporting pre-inspection preparation and post inspection action planning.
In this series, Focus Education consultants have given much consideration to the new Ofsted framework linked to current practice in schools. They have evaluated inspection activity since the implementation of the new framework in 2025 and provide support and challenge to each subject leader in primary education.
Consultants have created audits against each subject area, listed below, aimed at helping schools consider their current practice and prepare for their next inspection. Schools inspected recently should find the process invaluable in the creation or review of their post-Ofsted action plan.
The audits help subject and senior leaders in primary schools to check on the appropriateness of their documentation, focusing on the main areas inspected within the new framework.
These are:
- curriculum and teaching
- inclusion
- achievement
- leadership and governance
- behaviour
- personal development
- early years
They ask subject leaders to consider questions against each section and provide an indication whether they are meeting the expected or strong standard.
The aim of the audits is to support the creation of an action plan, using the framework as a default measure against the school’s current practice. The audits help to unscramble what might sometime seem the daunting task of checking provision in each subject area against the specific sections of the Ofsted framework.
The subject areas are:
o Reading
o Writing
o Oracy
o Mathematics
o Science
o Design technology
o Music
o History
o Geography
o Religious Education
o Physical Education
o Computing
o Languages
o PSHE
o Art
These subject specific curriculum audits can be purchased individually or as a bundle of 15 files.
