The document is written to take account of the 'best fit' methodology and will enable you to assess how much progress a child has made in each aspect of learning, as well as being able to say whether they are on track to reach the early learning goals.
Additionally, there is curriculum guidance that enables practitioners to examine where gaps in learning and development lie so that they can provide the right provision to meet all children's needs.
Those children who attend nursery for 3, 4 and 5 terms are also taken into account, and they may access a 'transition curriculum' to support the embedding of their learning.
