This CPD video is for headteachers, senior leaders and anyone with a monitoring responsibility for core and non-core subjects. It is focused on children’s books and ensuring they provide evidence of excellence in the quality of education at your school. This will include art sketchbooks and DT outcomes.

Since Ofsted inspections have focused less on data and more on the quality of education, it is clear that children’s outcomes in their books have been a major part of the judgement on the quality of education. It is, therefore, important to ensure you have a process which you follow and that everyone at your school adheres to it. The aim of this training is to either provide you with reassurance that all is well or give you the protocols you need to move your school forward in this respect.

The training:

• Considers what a good book looks like across different subjects and provides exemplars to look at;
• Considers what to look for when scrutinising books;
• Ensures you have taken account of the ‘know more and remember more’ mantra;
• Considers how to put together a set of protocols that everyone can agree to;
• Looks at drawing up a plan for following it through;
• Explains how to feed back to the whole staff if there are issues.
