Writing a Self-Evaluation Statement: Taking Account of the Ofsted Framework and the National Curriculum (Updated 2023)
Description
Fully updated to reflect the Ofsted Inspection Handbook from September 2023
This resource has been fully updated and re-written to support school leaders in their effective self-evaluation, a vital aspect of school improvement and key evidence for the start of any inspection.
The format follows the 2023 Ofsted evaluation schedule, but this can be adapted to meet the needs of the school or setting. It breaks each of the Ofsted headings down into smaller aspects and then provides a set of related questions to enable school leaders to consider their evidence and reflect on what their monitoring and evaluation outcomes suggest. Having considered the response to the questions, the grade descriptors can be used to form a 'best fit' judgement for that aspect.
Each page includes a sample of text from a self-evaluation supporting a judgement of 'Good' for that particular aspect. This is to provide a starting point for developing a school's response to the questions.
Finally, there is a pro forma for self-evaluation that follows the format of the resource so school leaders can easily record their evidence and judgements, resulting in a completed self-evaluation that is both concise and accurate.
