This publication aims to help a school or academy establish a design and technology curriculum that provides challenge and broad coverage.

The progression map at the beginning is recommended to ensure pupils' progress from EYFS through to Year 6. It is set out under the following headings: designing, making, evaluating, technical knowledge, or food technology.

The way of working is a suggestion that would help pupils acquire the substantive and disciplinary knowledge needed to be proficient in DT.

Each recommended unit follows the same process outlined below:
Link It! > Research It! > Design It! > Resource It! > Make It! > Evaluate it! (and repeat)

Additional or alternative units are suggested at the end of this document.
