This video training focuses on the importance of handwriting in the Ofsted Inspection Framework from Autumn 2025. Handwriting is being identified in inspections as an area for development, and school leaders need to be prepared for this as a key line of enquiry.

This training explains the rationale for this emphasis on handwriting from an Ofsted perspective, how handwriting links to areas of the inspection toolkit, and the kinds of evidence inspectors will look at during their time in a school. It provides key questions for school leaders to consider in relation to handwriting in their school to prepare for providing evidence to an inspection team. The training includes an audit tool that enables school leaders to evaluate handwriting as it relates to the toolkit areas of Curriculum and Teaching, Achievement, and Early Years. This audit is explained during the training and included in the course handout that accompanies the video.

This is a very useful course for primary, infant, junior, and first schools likely soon to be inspected.
